The Story
We’re Renee and Josh, the heart behind McLaren Groodles, we’re a boutique breeder devoted to the health, temperament, and happiness of every Groodle we raise. Since 2019, we have been raising our Groodles with integrity, transparency, and genuine care on our 45-acre property in the McLaren Vale wine region of South Australia.
Renee and Josh have grown up on farms where they developed their love for many animals and had to have a farm of their own. Josh’s upbringing was rich in animal husbandry. His parents bred Jack Russells and Labradors and ran a successful free-range chicken farm, instilling in him a strong work ethic and deep respect for responsible breeding. Renee’s background includes a successful thoroughbred stud, where her family bred and raced horses alongside cattle and sheep.
Our love for Groodles began with our Poodles. Their intelligence, loyalty, and gentle nature made them an unforgettable part of our lives. But when we met our first Groodle, we were smitten. They had everything we adored in a Poodle, with an added dash of goofy charm, playfulness, and the kind of affectionate presence that fills a home with laughter. It was the perfect blend—and from that moment on, we knew we wanted to share this remarkable breed with other families.
Our Groodles are part of our family. They sleep inside our home each night and spend their days enjoying the fresh air in a beautiful backyard designed just for them. With plenty of space to roam, shade to nap under, and provided a lot of love and attention, our dogs live enriched, balanced lives.
Every step we take is guided by what’s best for our dogs—putting their wellbeing first, and committing wholeheartedly to ethical, thoughtful, and caring breeding practices. We take pride in creating a community of responsible dog lovers, and our journey is defined by the joy and fulfillment that each Groodle brings into the lives of their families.
Our Approach
At McLaren Groodles, we put genuine care, honesty, and quality into every step of our breeding process.
We take a truly personalised approach—thoughtfully selecting parent dogs with impeccable health and gentle temperaments, ensuring every Groodle is born from strong, loving foundations. We breed F2 and multi-gene Groodles to enhance coat consistency and hypo allergenicity, increase genetic diversity, refine the breed's characteristics and enhance overall health and well-being. Groodles can have fleece or wool coats, and the colours range from white, brown, black, apricot to deep caramel and can change with age.
With DNA-clear parentage and ethical practices at our core, we raise our puppies in a nurturing, enriched environment where they flourish physically, emotionally, and socially.
We’re deeply invested in our puppy families, offering guidance, transparency, and support that lasts long after they’ve left our arms and entered yours. Every transition is handled with empathy and professionalism, creating a smooth path to lifelong joy and companionship.
